Pet Bereavement Support

Pet loss support (or bereavement support as it is also known), is available from trained and compassionate professionals on the Roundwood Pet Hospice team.

The loss of a pet affects everyone differently as our pets mean different things to each of us.

For some, the loss can be devastating and feel every bit as bad as losing a human family member.

Children also react in different ways and it can be hard to know how best to approach the subject of loss.

And the grieving doesn't always start after a pet is lost. Many pet owners experience anticipatory grief sadness and guilt before a pet passes away. This is especially true in the last few days before a terminally ill pet is euthanised.

Coping with the loss of a pet is incredibly difficult. We collated some practical ways to try and manage the loss of a pet into a comprehensive guide:

There isn't a right way to suffer, but walking through grief alone can be very hard, which is why we have experienced and training professionals on hand to help you move through the stages of grief to a place where the sadness of loss still exists, but it is not overwhelming and is tempered by the joyful memories the experience of having had a pet in the first place allow.
