Meet Dr Rob Pope, our new veterinarian, based in Liverpool.
Dr Rob brings over 20 years of experience as a veterinarian to our team, with a compassionate approach that emphasises the importance of pets' comfort and well-being, especially in their final stages of life. He believes that pets deserve a peaceful and stress-free final period, not only in their last moments but also in the days and weeks leading up to it.
We are thrilled to have Dr Rob join Roundwood Pet Hospice, extending his expertise to assist families in Liverpool. His goal is to offer families the opportunity to create cherished final moments with their beloved pets.
Here’s a letter from Dr Rob himself…
Dear all,
My name is Rob Pope and I am a hospice vet based in Liverpool.
As a vet with over 20 years of experience, I have had the pleasure of treating many pets of all ages. I understand that the bonds between pets and their families are mutual, and for this reason, after a long life together, we owe our pets the best care, as they have likely been with us through good times and bad.
However, many pets do not enjoy trips to the vets. When this is necessary for their health, we can justify the stress with ease. Ideally, more pets could be treated without the stress of a journey, but due to the need to provide high-quality care to all patients, this is often not possible.
As a vet, I always appreciated the rare opportunity to visit patients at home, especially when it was time to say goodbye, allowing pets to be surrounded by their loved ones in their favourite spot. Now, in my new role, I am able to help more pets and families in this way.
While each visit carries an element of sadness, I have come to see a gentle farewell as a form of treatment when the time is right, and I am honoured to help ensure that the lovely memories of your pet prevail.
Best wishes,
Rob
