Behaviour Policy
We understand that this is a difficult time for you and your family and you have made a very difficult decision to have your pet
euthanised.
Sometimes behaviour euthanasia's are not appropriate for an in home service and we will work with you, your vet and your veterinary behaviourist to see if we can achieve your request.
Why may a behaviour euthanasia due to aggression not be appropriate in a home environment?
Our visits are carried out by one person, your pet may need to be muzzled or held appropriately to ensure that everyone stays safe.
One of the benefits of in home euthanasia is that the pet feels confident in their own home, this can make aggressive pets worse and more difficult to restrain safely when needed.
The referral process is as follows;
-
Ask your vet to refer you to our service via email, including a full medical history.
-
Send us any veterinary behaviour reports you may have.
-
We will review all the information provided and carry out a risk assessment to see if our service is appropriate for your pet.
-
We will ask you to confirm in writing that you are able to handle your pet and muzzle them if needed.
-
We may ask your vet to dispense medication prior to our visit to relax your pet and make the visit safer for our vet and less stressful for your pet.
If we are able to provide a service and visit your pet but are unable to carry out the euthanasia as the pet cannot be restrained or suitably medicated you will be charged for the visit.
